Let’s face it: Corporate culture is an enigma. Business people speak in an inscrutable code where everything is implied and nothing is said outright. If you haven’t yet learned how to decode the corporate word salad, you can find yourself stranded in a foreign culture without the ability to speak the language and understand what’s going on.

Being able to translate the whispers, subtle shifts, and corporate rumblings happening around you every day is an essential career skill that will help you perceive of big shifts in the business that are coming, tailor your work to the real concerns of senior leadership, and confidently steer your career through layoffs, re-orgs, and strategy changes alike.

So if you find yourself completely confused and vaguely anxious when your COO says you need to drill down into the verticals to figure out the KPIs and deliverables for this project, then this is the talk for you. We’ll take a page out of the WWII codebreakers’ book and use the same tools they did to break the Enigma machine and translate intercepted German communication into valuable intel for the Allies.

  • How to use publicly available company information to intuit what’s happening behind closed doors
  • Common corporate patterns (and what they really mean!)
  • How to build and test your very own corporate crib sheet to help you stay aligned with corporate objectives

The goal of this talk is to help you read between the lines at work so you can navigate the corporate space with skill and intention.
